Aaron Rodgers Finalizes Extension to Remain with Packers
6 years agoAccording to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers have finalized a deal that will extend Rodgers’ contract. It is expected that the deal will be completed this weekend. The four year extension is worth $134 million and will carry an average annual value of $33.5 million. The contract has over $100 million in guaranteed money. Rodgers was still under contract with Green Bay for the next two seasons and could have been easily franchise tagged for another two seasons. This deal was always about giving Rodgers a more competitive salary. When he originally signed his current deal, he became one of the highest paid players in the NFL, however his salary has been outpaced by the rest of the market. The contract negotiations did not appear to be much of a distraction for Rodgers and Green Bay during the preseason. Rodgers has only played in one offensive drive this preseason and appears ready to return as one of the top quarterbacks in the league following injuries last year.
