Austin Hooper 2018 Player Outlook: Undervalued Fantasy Tight End
6 years agoAtlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper didn't improve as much as some fantasy owners would have hoped in the 2017 season, finishing his sophomore campaign with 49 catches for 526 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers left him as a middle of the road TE2 in fantasy. The third-year tight end reportedly spent much of the offseason working out with Matt Ryan in attempts to improve his connection with his starting QB. Even though he didn't live up to expectations in 2017, Hooper has a real chance to break out in the 2018 season. He is extremely athletic and is entrenched as the team's top tight end, meaning he will play a majority of the snaps at the position. The Falcons struggled to score touchdowns in 2017 but their offense is a major candidate for positive touchdown regression for the upcoming season, which will raise the fantasy production of all their skill position players. Hooper is a solid late-round tight end with upside who can be paired with a steady, high-floor option in fantasy drafts.
