Isaiah Crowell 2018 Outlook: Can He Regain Fantasy Owners Confidence?
6 years agoRaise your hand if you have been burned by Isaiah Crowell in the past. If you are reading this outlook, you probably haven’t been burned, because if you had, you would have given up. Since Crowell signed with the Jets, he probably didn’t win any fantasy owners back into his good graces either. You may be able to find some hidden value with Crowell though if you can forgive him for letting you down in the past.
The issue with all of this doesn’t lie with Crowell, but with the Browns coaching staff for not utilizing him better. Crowell has only averaged less than four yards per carry once in his four seasons and even though he didn’t continue to progress last season, he didn’t technically regress much either. With the Jets though, he finds himself as the two down back with not much competition to take carries away. Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire (when healthy) will work into the passing game but are not true three down backs in 2018. Crowell should at least take the 103 carries left from Matt Forte last season and if he can outperform Powell at the beginning of the year, he should slowly start to take those carries away as well. Crowell could offer RB3 upside if the Jets offense can figure it out.
