C.J. Anderson 2018 Outlook: Efficiency Is The Name Of The Game
6 years agoThe question for the Carolina Panthers this off-season has been how the backfield will play out. If you are a Christian McCaffrey owner though, there are no questions. You know exactly how this will play out with McCaffrey as the RB1 and taking most of the carries. We shouldn’t bet on that however.
Even with McCaffrey’s huge workload last season, Jonathan Stewart still muscled out 198 carries. Although the Panthers were fourth in the NFL with 30.4 carries per game, neither Stewart or McCaffrey averaged more than 3.7 yards per carry. C.J. Anderson however, has never averaged less than four yards per carry in a season. Coach speak has been all the rage in training camp while Ron Rivera promises all of us McCaffrey will be the next RB1. The fact of the matter is, the main running backs for the Panthers were not very effective last season and Anderson won’t just waste away on the bench this year. He will be used and used often. He has RB3 probability written all over him. More than enough value at his off-season ADP.
