Randall Cobb Had Ankle Surgery Six Weeks Ago
6 years agoGreen Bay wide receiver Randall Cobb told reporters on Friday that he underwent ankle surgery six weeks ago to remove a small piece of cartilage. This would explain why he was in a walking boot earlier in the preseason. Despite the surgery, Cobb is participating fully in training camp. He says that he feels great. ESPN’s Stephania Bell noted on twitter that, “he looked great, not like a guy coming off surgery.” Cobb is on many peoples’ radars as a sleeper pick this year. After a career year in 2014, he has had three disappointing seasons. He struggled with various injuries over that time period and had difficulty separating from press coverage. With veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson no longer with Green Bay, Cobb will have the opportunity to become a bigger part of the offense. Cobb, an explosive and sure-handed slot receiver, has struggled as opposing defenses have invested more into the nickel cornerback position. Cobb will be a low-floor, high-ceiling option at receiver in 2018.
