Patrick Cantlay Makes Cut at First Open Championship
6 years agoPatrick Cantlay provided a majestic showing at Carnoustie. The American shot a three-under par, finishing in a share of 12th place. Maybe even more impressively, Cantlay did all this at his first career Open Championship. The former No. 1 ranked amateur in the world has been a steady presence on tour since capturing the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in November, held in Las Vegas, Nevada. While his win in Las Vegas has been his only victory so far on tour in his career, the 26-year-old has a very bright future ahead of him. With the finish at Carnoustie, Cantlay jumps to his career-high ranking of 27th in the world.
