Sam Darnold 2018 Outlook: The Start Of An Era
6 years agoTaken with the third pick of the NFL draft, the Jets are hoping Sam Darnold can be their first great quarterback since Joe Namath and lead the team back to the Super Bowl for the first time since Broadway Joe. If this is going to happen, it won't be this season as he will not be opening the season as the starter and if he does start, he'll have a sub-par collection of players around him. The quarterback out of USC is still a year away from being relevant for fantasy purposes unless you are in a dynasty league. The likeliest scenario for Darnold in 2018 is to play at most eight games, meaning if you do decide to pick him up as a flier, you can do so off the waiver wire during the Jets bye week at week 11 but beware as after the bye he will have two games against the Patriots as well as matchups against the Bills, Titans, Texans and Packers to finish out the season.
