Larry Fitzgerald 2018 Outlook: Fitz Will Be Done When He Says He's Done
6 years agoI generally write off wide receivers once they hit age 32. It may seem like a bad idea on initial glance, but given the historical drop off in production at wide receivers at that age because mathematically, it makes sense. I will never write off Larry Fitzgerald - not until he retires. There are exceptions to every rule and when a player repeatedly shows that he is an exception, believe him. Fitzgerald keeps his body in excellent shape and I have no doubts that he will be a high level producer for as long as he wants to be.
Even at age 35, you can confidently take Fitzgerald in the third round and know you are getting 16 games, over 100 receptions, and over 1,000 yards. The Cardinals' QB situation is actually better than it was last year after Carson Palmer went down. Sam Bradford's game suits Fitzgerald very well and when Bradford inevitably ends up on IR, Josh Rosen is a talented rookie that will want to lean on his veteran. David Johnson's healthy return will only help the offense as a whole. Fitzgerald may be old, but he's old and reliable.
