7 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer recorded three RBI in Thursday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hosmer drove in a run on a ground out in the third inning then rapped a two-run double later in the game. After the 1-for-4 evening, Hosmer is working on a six-game hitting streak. For the season, he's slashing a sturdy .269/.367/.487 with six homers, 19 RBI and 20 runs. He's also chipped in three stolen bases. Hosmer's average has dipped in recent weeks, but the counting stats are starting to accumulate. Although fantasy owners should be mindful of his home (.728 OPS) and away (1.090) splits, Hosmer should continue earning his value as a mid-tier first baseman for the balance of the season.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
