Franchy Cordero Earning More Playing Time
7 years agoSan Diego Padres manager Andy Green believes outfielder Franchy Cordero has earned more playing time. "He's going to play a lot," Green stated about Cordero, who launched his fifth homer Friday night against the New York Mets. The Padres bats have gone quiet recently but Cordero has hit .304 over his last six games with three dingers and six RBI. Amongst the major league leaders in exit velocity (96.1 MPH) and hard-hit rate (61%), Cordero has forced his way into the San Diego lineup and arguably supplanted outfielder Manuel Margot as the regular center fielder. Cordero still struggles with left-handed pitching and strikes out at an absurd 38% clip, but he's increasingly becoming a more attractive fantasy asset. Outside of points leagues, owners should find his power-speed combination useful and he's especially stream-worthy against right-handers (.915 OPS).
