Joey Lucchesi Hits Speed Bump
7 years agoSan Diego Padres rookie starter Joey Lucchesi suffered his first loss of the season Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Lucchesi's undoing came in the fourth inning where he faced eight batters and allowed all four of his earned runs. In total, he threw 103 pitches in five innings, surrendering five hits and four walks with four strikeouts. The inefficient outing pushes his ERA to 2.70 and WHIP to 1.13. Still very impressive through five starts for the 24-year-old. Lucchesi has arguably been the Padres best starter in 2018 (9.79 K/9) and a popular fantasy add over the past couple weeks. His next opportunity comes at home in a weekend series against the New York Mets.
