Manuel Margot Close To Returning
7 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot (ribs) saw a doctor Monday afternoon and expects to be cleared for baseball activity. Margot was placed on the disabled list last week after getting drilled in the ribs. He's eligible to return this Saturday but will likely play a handful of rehab games first. Margot has struggled out the gate in 2018, slashing .159/.245/.250 with a homer and two steals. The silver lining is his walks are up and strikeouts are down, which will be necessary if he wants to retain the leadoff position. The return of Margot and Wil Myers will muddy the Friars outfield situation. Outfielder Jose Pirela has been hot and could slide to second base in a pinch. However, that still leaves outfielders Franchy Cordero and Hunter Renfroe vying for playing time. Until the situation clarifies, Myers and Pirela will be the two reliable fantasy options.
