Hunter Renfroe Smacks Game-Clinching Homer
7 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Hunter Renfroe went 1-for-4 and hit a go-ahead three-run home run Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies. Renfroe's long ball in the seventh inning proved to be the game-winning run as the Padres won 5-2. More encouraging, it was off right-handed pitcher Bryan Shaw. Tuesday was a typical boom-or-bust Renfroe game. He struck out twice to go along with the homer, made a great diving catch on defense but also misplayed a fly ball and allowed an unnecessary triple. Renfroe led the Padres in spring training with six HRs but Tuesday's was his first this season. Renfroe is still slashing a poor .188/.257/.375 through 28 at-bats but projects to get regular playing time until Wil Myers (arm) is healthy.
