Packers Have Reportedly Shown Interest in Jimmy Graham
7 years agoAccording to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers have reached out to free-agent tight end Jimmy Graham. Green Bay is in need of new tight end after the departure of Martellus Bennett last year. Graham was a repeat Pro Bowler early in his career with the New Orleans Saints and was one of fantasy’s top tight ends for that period. After a trade that sent him to Seattle as well as some injuries, Graham’s performance had been disappointing. He had a bit of a bounce-back year in 2017, though, and is considered one of the top tight ends on the market. Putting aside Bennett’s injury saga last year as well as his overall uninspiring play, he was a bad fit in Green Bay’s offense. They have been missing a tight end who can competently run a seam route and put pressure on opposing safeties. Bennett was not that type of player last year. Graham would certainly be an improvement in that area, although he likely would not be the world-destroying deep threat that he was with New Orleans. The Saints are also reportedly interested in Graham. Graham would see his fantasy stock rise with a move to Green Bay, but he would not be considered a top-tier tight end if that were to happen.
