Muhammad Wilkerson to Visit Green Bay
7 years agoFormer New York Jet defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson is set to visit Green Bay on Wednesday. Wilkerson was officially released by New York on Monday. While his play has still been fairly solid, it did not merit the $16.75 million he would have received next year. Wilkerson looks like he may be interested in reuniting with Mike Pettine, who was defensive coordinator for the Jets during Wilkerson’s first two years in the league. Pettine was recently hired to be Green Bay’s new defensive coordinator. In addition to Pettine, Green Bay has a new general manager in Brian Gutekunst who is aiming to be more aggressive than his predecessor. Signing a talented and useful player like Wilkerson, even while defensive end is not a position of need in Green Bay, would certainly qualify. The move would marginally help Green Bay’s pass rush. However, Green Bay would still be in need of an elite outside pass rusher.
