Mallex Smith Has A Better Outlook
7 years agoMallex Smith was looking like an afterthought outside of deep leagues during the offseason after the trade for Denard Span. However, in February, a flurry of moves have dramatically improved his situation. He now has a solid path to regular playing time. He struggled with the bat in his rookie season with a .238 average and seemed buried with the Braves before moving to Tampa Bay where he batted .270 in 81 games. He possesses tremendous speed so if he can keep getting on-base at a 33% rate he did last season or even better, he could be a true difference-maker in the steals department. He should be owned in any category-based league where at least 50 outfielders are on rosters and be a later-round steal.
