Ryan Madson Is Still A Strong Reliever
7 years agoRyan Madson was a great addition to the Nationals bullpen in 2017. Coming over with fellow Oakland reliever Sean Doolittle in a mid-season trade, Madson was electric. He punched out 28 batters in 19 innings and only walked three. Of the three earned runs he gave up, none of them were via the long ball. He simply wasn't giving up any fly balls (21.2%) and induced ground balls at a 54.7% clip. He can touch 97 mph on his four-seamer and his changeup actually increased in velocity over the last three months of the season. He's next in line for saves in Washington and makes a great pitcher for owners in holds leagues.
