Brad Peacock Odd Man Out Of Astros Rotation For Now
7 years agoHouston Astros pitcher Brad Peacock will head to spring training as the odd man out of the starting rotation after the acquisition of Pirates ace Gerrit Cole. Peacock emerged from the bullpen last season to make 21 starts and post a 13-2 record with 161 strikeouts in 132 innings. His 11 strikeouts per nine innings put Peacock on the fantasy radar but he will struggle to repeat those numbers unless there is an injury. With a rotation of Cole, Justin Verlander, Dallas Keuchel and Charlie Morton the Astros have completely turned over their rotation. Peacock most likely will start the season in the bullpen and should to post high strikeout totals but limited in terms of innings. Also, be prepared for the possibility of Peacock seeing some save opportunities if embattled closer Ken Giles is slow out of the gate. Peacock could become an intriguing sleeper add off the fantasy waiver wire in multiple ways once the season begins.
