Brian McCann Will Provide Power, Little Else In 2018
7 years agoHouston Astros catcher Brian McCann has 10 seasons of 20 or more home runs in his career but hit only 18 in 2017. The veteran catcher missed stretches of last season with a concussion and knee issues held him to only 97 games played. That was the lowest game total since his rookie season of 2005 and, at this stage of his career, should not be expected to overly exceed that number in 2018. The Astros have promising catcher Jose Centeno and veteran Evan Gattis still on the roster which could cut into McCann's playing time at times. But the one thing McCann will still be able to do is hit for power. Even in limited playing time he could still find himself in the top-10 among catchers in home runs by season's end. Otherwise, McCann provides little else from a fantasy perspective and expectations need to be tempered heading into spring training.
