Alex Bregman Has 2018 Breakout Potential
7 years agoHouston Astros infielder Alex Bregman heads into the 2018 season with a ton of steam. The soon to be 24-year old rode a white-hot second half of the season into becoming a integral asset in the playoffs en route to a World Series title. It was certainly a tale of two halves, as Bregman took a .256/.338/419 slashline into the All-Star break with only 27 runs batted in. He was in and out of the lineup and playing third base, not his natural position. But everything came together in the second half of the season as he posted a .315/.367/536 slashline in 267 second half at-bats with 33 extra base hits. That production carried over to the postseason, where he drove in 10 runs with three doubles and four home runs in 18 playoff games. Bregman has all the tools to be a star in the American League and will have every opportunity to take that next step this season. He may not reach the zenith of his fantasy potential this season but will be an excellent mid-to-late-round fantasy grab as an infielder that has the speed and power to do it all.
