Luis Castillo Looks To Build Upon Promising Rookie Year
7 years agoCincinnati right-hander Luis Castillo was one of the more surprising contributors for the Reds in 2017. Castillo was called up to the big league team from Double-A on June 23, completely skipping Triple-A, and made 15 starts for the Reds. He went on to post a 3-7 record, 3.12 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 98 strikeouts, and 32 walks in 89 1/3 innings of work. Castillo features three solid pitches and has great stuff, with a fastball that sits around 97-98 MPH and an excellent slider. In 2018, fantasy owners can expect plenty of strikeouts from Castillo, although he may struggle yet again to pick up many wins as he pitches for a Reds team that is not expected to be very good. He slots in ideally as a third fantasy starter for this upcoming season.
