Miguel Sano Hoping To Bounce Back From Leg Injury
7 years agoMinnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano has spent most of the offseason in Florida rehabbing from surgery to insert a steel rod in his lower leg. Sano missed most of the final five weeks of the season after a stress reaction in his left shin was caused by a foul ball. The young third baseman had been in the middle of a breakout season at the plate, finishing the year with a .264/.352/.507 slash line, 28 homers, 75 runs, and 77 RBI in 114 games played. While Sano has plenty of power in his bat, he brings a replaceable skillset in fantasy with the recent home run explosion across the game. We also haven't seen him reach over 500 plate appearances in a full big league season due to constant nagging injuries. Sano was also accused by a team photographer of sexual assault during the offseason. Major League Baseball is looking into the allegations and doesn't have a timetable on when they will conclude the investigation but the possibility of Sano being suspended as a result is a cloud that will hang over his head this season. The injury coupled with the potential punishment combine to make him a risky fantasy option in drafts this season.
