Kyle Schwarber Loses 20 Pounds, Looks To Improve In 2018
7 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber has made it a mission to get in shape and improve for the 2018 season. Schwarber had a rough start to the 2017 season which even included a small stint in Triple-A. In the 68 games prior to his demotion, he hit .178 with 13 home runs and 29 RBI. However, his short stint in Triple-A led to a much better second half for the power hitter. In those 61 games, he hit .253 with 17 home runs and 30 RBI. Schwarber showed a large improvement despite hitting .211 for the season. Part of his struggles could be attributed to the fact that it was his first season removed from a torn ACL as well as continuing to learn the outfield position. Schwarber himself has spoken about changing his lifestyle and eating healthier. So far in the offseason, he has slimmed down about 20 pounds and has seemed determined to have a strong season. Given the fact he has monster power potential and showed a nice improvement in the second-half, he makes for a nice bounce-back candidate, just know that he is likely to sit out games when the team faces left-handed pitching.
