Devon Travis Could Gain Multi-Position Eligibility in 2018
7 years agoFantasy owners hoping Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis would recapture some of his early-career magic in 2017 were, for a short while, rewarded on that. A torrid stretch from late-April through mid-May saw Travis sit among the league leaders in doubles. As so often happens with Travis, though, he fell victim to the injury bug and went down for the season on June 6th with a knee injury. All indications are Travis will be healthy for spring training, but an interesting development may be occurring with the Jays’ early January trade for second baseman/third baseman Yangervis Solarte. Early chatter has created rumors that Toronto may be looking to utilize Solarte more at second base, with Travis moving over to the outfield. As of now, it’s all unfounded rumor, and while the change may not be great for Travis as a real life player, for fantasy purposes, any extra positional eligibility is a good thing. If he can stay healthy, Travis will likely return excellent value as he’s not going to be drafted in the majority of leagues. But, that’s always a big, big if when it comes to Travis.
