EXPERT ANALYSIS: The second coming of Steve Bedrosian? Actually, yes. The son of the former Cy Young award winner is following in his father's footsteps quite well so far. Although he hasn't picked up a save in his MLB career just yet, Bedrosian has been one of the most effective short relievers in the AL this season. After a rough start to his young career in which he posted ERAs of 6.52 and 5.40, he has maintained a 1.09 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. He is also striking out just over one batter per inning and has doubled his K/BB to 3.27 from his rookie season ratio of 1.67.
Bedrock Jr. is doing his part to stake a claim to late inning opportunities, but has just four holds and no save opportunities. It will take a trade or injury to make Bedrosian a relevant fantasy player this season, but the Angels could very well be sellers this season as they sit at the bottom of the AL West standings. Current closer Huston Street was pulled the other day after favoring his hamstring and has had injury troubles all season. For now, Bedrosian is a name to monitor if you need relief help down the stretch.
