ANALYSIS: Marcus Semien plays like a corner infielder stuck at shortstop. No doubt, he has athleticism and range, but his 35 errors last year had many doubting he would stick in the middle of the diamond. Semien has improved his fielding, only committing two errors thus far, but more importantly he is still slugging more than all shortstops outside of Carlos Correa and Trevor Story. Semien is second among shortstops and fourth among middle infielders with nine HR and has contributed 17 RBI as well. The compromise with Semien is a mediocre average; he should hit better than his current .217, but likely not much more than last year's .257 AVG. Semien offers top-notch power at a position that falls off quickly after the top five players. His upside is somewhat limited by his position at the bottom of the order on a weak Athletics team. Fantasy owners looking for pop in the infield should take advantage of his power, though.
