BALLER MOVE: Target ~120
CURRENT ADP: 131
ANALYSIS: Steven Matz started 14 games at the Triple-A level in 2015, recording a 2.19 ERA, racking up 94 strike outs and yielded just six home runs in 90.1 innings pitched. The Long Island native showed no signs of growing pains upon reaching the majors last year. In six starts near the end of the season for the Mets (after missing a few months with a lat injury), the 24 year-old maintained a steady 2.27 ERA en route to a 4-0 record, not to mention extended success in the postseason.
Somehow, Matz is not one of the top three starters on his team, but that means he won't often have to endure the challenge of facing rival aces. Matz still needs a wider Major League portfolio to prove his worth, but in many ways he is more promising than fellow pitchers lumped in his ranking bracket. Given his upside, Matz is worth drafting before his ADP comes along.
