Ernest Jones 2024 Outlook: A Sleeper No More
6 months agoAs a rookie, Jones was a popular sleeper in most IDP circles. He didn't do much in his first year, but his sophomore season saw him produce LB2-caliber statistics while playing with Bobby Wagner. In his third year, Jones finally broke through. In his first season as Los Angeles' lead linebacker, Jones posted career highs in almost every statistical category. While he missed two games, the South Carolina alum still finished 11th in the NFL in total tackles. He also placed 11th in Standard fantasy points per game despite forcing zero turnovers. Expectations for Jones are even higher in IDP circles this year, as many consider him a top-three fantasy LB. Those projections are a bit generous, considering his situation has not improved, and he wasn't a top-ten LB on a points-per-game basis last year. That said, Jones could realistically lead the NFL in tackles if he plays a full season and is a sufficient pass rusher from the interior. Projecting the former Gamecock to be a quality LB1 this year is realistic, and hoping he tops the position is within the realm of possibility.
