Justin Fields 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Waiting In The Shadows To Explode, But Needs An Injury In Front Of Him To Make It Happen
6 months agoJustin Fields has found a new home in Pittsburgh, but unfortunately, so has Russell Wilson. Fields has immense talent and could be a budding superstar in the making, which makes him an intriguing buy in dynasty leagues, but in re-draft leagues, he is undraftable as nothing more than Wilson's handcuff. The Chicago Bears did Justin Fields dirty by not surrounding him with any talent when they drafted him. He was making plays throwing to Darnell Mooney and a washed Allen Robinson, and the offensive coordinator never designed plays that complemented Fields' play style. This resulted in a ton of broken plays and improvising on Fields' behalf, which made for sloppy football. The Bears finally got Fields an elite wide receiver when they traded for D.J. Moore last season, but the offense never evolved, and the Bears landed in the very fortunate position of having the first pick in the draft since they held the Panthers' first-round pick. It meant the end for Fields as no team except the Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, and Ravens would have passed up on drafting college phenom Caleb Williams. Fields is an electric playmaker and elite fantasy option when he is on the field, but unless Wilson gets hurt or completely falls off the Earth, he will not contribute to any fantasy teams anytime soon. He should go undrafted in redraft leagues across all platforms, but if something were to happen to Wilson, he would be an immediate add and rock-solid QB1 the second he steps foot on the field.
