Antoine Winfield Jr. 2024 Outlook: Top DB in Fantasy
6 months agoBefore 2023, Antoine Winfield Jr. had missed at least one game in every season of his NFL career. He had also never finished as a top-ten fantasy defender in standard scoring. A lot changed last year, as Winfield managed to play a full season and finish as the top-scoring DB in Standard IDP Scoring. That finish was due largely to his ability to stay healthy and his usage in the box. Last year, Winfield saw 23 more snaps in the box than in 2022 and 2021 combined. His increased usage in run support and on blitzes is a big reason why he reached career highs in sacks, tackles, and forced fumbles. That usage also helped Tampa finish fifth in scoring defense last year, suggesting not much should change in their scheme or Winfield's usage. With the former top overall defensive back in fantasy (Derwin James) repeatedly struggling with injuries, the NFL's new top-paid defensive back should also be the top DB in fantasy. Not even Kyle Hamilton can match Winfield's combination of usage, skillset, and fantasy-friendly scheme.
