Colby Parkinson 2024 Outlook – Different Team, Same Low Target Total
6 months agoParkinson, a longtime, long-haired fan favorite with the Seattle Seahawks, signed a multimillion-dollar deal to play for the division rival Los Angeles Rams in 2024. He was a part-time player in Seattle for four years as one-third of a tight end trio that included Noah Fant and Will Dissly. This arrangement cut into Parkinson's playing time since the Seahawks attempted to get all three tight ends snaps. He had little-to-no fantasy value thanks to back-to-back 25-reception seasons that translated into 569 yards and four touchdowns. Signing with the Rams gives Parkinson the opportunity to get more targets as Tyler Higbee is recovering from a torn ACL and might miss the first month or more of the upcoming campaign. The Rams also have second-year man Davis Allen in the mix, but he only caught 10 passes in his rookie year and would likely take a back seat to Parkinson in the pecking order. Los Angeles' passing attack revolves around Pro Bowl receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, so the tight ends in Sean McVay's system do not get targeted much anyway. Parkinson should do okay early in the season, but once Higbee returns his target total will undoubtedly drop. Draft Parkinson as a TE2 and he could set new career-highs across the board (30-430-4?), but those numbers will not be enough to win you a fantasy title.
