8 months agoSan Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman collected three extra-base hits on Friday, including a double and two home runs to go along with five RBI and three runs scored, helping the Giants to an 8-3 win over the Padres. The veteran is now 4-for-9 to begin the season and is reminiscent of 2023 when he began the first month of the season hitting .384 with 53% of his hits going for extra bases (15 doubles, five HR). Of course, he hit .205 the rest of the way, so the Giants are hoping he can contribute for the entire season in 2024.
