Yusei Kikuchi 2024 Player Outlook: Fair Value Coming Off Career Year
9 months agoToronto Blue Jays left-hander Yusei Kikuchi seemingly put it all together for the first time in his five-year big-league career in the 2023 season. The 32-year-old set new career bests with a 3.86 ERA and a 19% K-BB% while taking the ball for 32 starts. After fighting with his control to the tune of a 12.8% BB% in a rollercoaster 2022 season, Kikuchi reined in the free passes to a quality 6.9% clip a season ago. The result was an 11-win season and big-time value for fantasy managers who took a chance on him last season. While ATC projects a slight step back in 2024 with a 4.17 ERA and a 16.5% K-BB%, prospective managers should be happy with a projected 25.1% K%, even with an increased 8.6% BB%. All told, Kikuchi is fair value with a 239.49 ADP while backed by what should be a strong supporting offense in Toronto.
