Tim Patrick An Obvious Choice To Be Cut
10 months agoThe Athletic's Nick Kosmider writes that Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) stands out as an obvious cut candidate as the team enters the offseason at around $24 million over the salary cap threshold. Patrick has missed each of the last two years with injuries suffered during training camp -- first a torn ACL in 2022, and then a torn Achilles in 2023. The injuries came on the heels of a three-year, $30 million deal that he signed with the team in November of 2021, which came with $18.5 million guaranteed. The 30-year-old is set to count $15.5 million against the cap this year, but he has no guaranteed money left on his deal. Releasing him would free up $9.5 million in cap space. Patrick was one of the more underrated pass-catchers before his two season-ending injuries, but his fantasy stock has gone out the window due to his two unfortunate injuries the last two summers.
