Bobby Miller 2024 Player Outlook: Looks To Improve On Successful Rookie Campaign
11 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller had a rookie season most pitchers dream of. The former first-round pick compiled an 11-4 record of 22 starts with a 3.76 ERA and 3.51 FIP. With his pedigree and underlying metrics, it looks like Miller can at least duplicate his numbers from 2023 and possibly improve on them. His xERA of 3.40 was in the 81st percentile and he has numbers to prove that wasn't beginner's luck. His expected batting average was .229, his walk percent was two points better than the league average and he had a 47.7% groundball rate. The 24-year-old posted a .277 BABIP and 1.10 WHIP, showing he wasn't overly lucky at keeping runners off base, thus proving he should be able to repeat such a feat. The 10.7% HR/FB rate Miller posted also looks sustainable, thanks in part to his high groundball rate. He's ranked at 100 by RotoBaller and he's going around there, meaning he won't come overly cheap, but know he should return great value.
