Shota Imanaga Likely To Command $100 Million
11 months agoJapanese free-agent left-hander Shota Imanaga intentionally waited until the end of November to be posted by the Yokohama Bay Stars of Nippon Professional Baseball, figuring all the best MLB teams would be focused on Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. According to executives, Imanaga is likely to reach nine figures on a contract. His options should be plentiful as a cheaper alternative to lefties Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery on the free-agent market. The San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies could all be interested. With Imanaga's 45-day posting window expiring on Jan. 11, his market will pick up this week.
