Corbin Carroll 2024 Player Outlook: Speedster Ready To Continue With Stud Status
12 months agoCorbin Carroll went from being a prospect to a fantasy stud in 2023. Carroll helped the Diamondbacks to an improbable run to the World Series, hitting .285/.362/.506 with 25 homers, 76 RBI, 116 runs and 54 stolen bases in 155 games. Carroll's speed is his main asset with a 30.1 ft/sec average sprint speed ranking in the 99th percentile. He showed enough power to avoid being merely a speedster. The Diamondbacks have also bolstered their roster so there's reason to believe Carroll can match or better last season's RBI total. His .268 xBA does suggest there could be some regression but Carroll's speed allows him to leg out the infield hits so another .280-.290 batting average isn't out of the question. And when he does beat out those infield hits, he'll keep flying on the bases. His 8.8% BB% is good enough to get him on base enough to make the most of his speed. Carroll is only 23 years old and is heading into his second full season in the Majors. There's every reason to believe he can improve. Even a repeat of his 2023 numbers would justify using a top-five pick on him this draft season.
