Tyler Glasnow, Dodgers Finalizing Five-Year Extension Friday
1 year agoRight-hander Tyler Glasnow and the Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a five-year, $135 million contract extension on Friday, according to sources. Once the deal is complete, the trade of Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot from the Tampa Bay Rays to the Dodgers for right-hander Ryan Pepiot and outfielder Jonny DeLuca will be complete. The deal also includes a $30 million team option for the 2029 season. Glasnow is the type of big arm that can carry a rotation when he's on and healthy, but the problem is that's rarely been the case so far in his career, as he maxed out at 21 starts and 120 innings for the Rays in 2023. For that reason, Glasnow has been a boom/bust high-end fantasy starter because of his immense strikeout upside (462 K's in 332 2/3 innings in five seasons in Tampa). His move to the Dodgers will make him even more attractive in drafts next spring.
