Yoshinobu Yamamoto Meets With Phillies
1 year agoJapanese free-agent right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto met with a Philadelphia Phillies contingent on Thursday. Yamamoto, one of the top available pitchers this winter, is making the rounds with all the big-budget teams this offseason. He's already met with the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. The 25-year-old has been the hands-down best pitcher in Nippon Professional Baseball in recent years while pitching for the Orix Buffaloes and will immediately hop into a starting rotation in the majors in the United States with whichever team he chooses to play for in 2024 and beyond. Yamamoto is expected to sign a deal for more than $200 million total. Adding him to a rotation that already includes Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler would be pretty attractive for the Phillies.
