ANALYSIS: Injuries have been the name of the game this season for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones, but it seems likely that he'll be back on the field when the Jaguars take on the 49ers in Week 10.
Currently available in over 80% of fantasy leagues, Zay Jones should be a popular add, especially if we get more definitive word on his availability before waivers run. At the same time, a more definitive word could also spell bad news for his value, if Doug Pederson indicates he could miss additional time.
Jones has appeared in three games this season for the Jaguars. In Week 1, he was targeted seven times, catching five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. It was a strong start to the season, but he couldn't follow up on it in Week 2, as he failed to bring in any of his six targets. Still, the volume was there, even if the production wasn't.
Then, Jones missed Week 3 and Week 4, but returned against Buffalo in Week 5. While he exited that game early with a knee injury, playing just 43% of the team's snaps, he made the most of his time on the field. Jones was targeted five times, catching three of those for 23 yards and a touchdown.
He missed the next three games, then the Jags had a Week 9 bye, so it's been a month since we've seen Jones on the field. If he returns this week, the touchdown upside makes him a strong flex option in deeper leagues. I wouldn't start him yet in a 12-teamer just because I want to see how he looks as he returns from the injury, but he's worth adding off the wire so no one else has him for what should be a strong second half if he stays healthy.
