Javonte Williams Looking For Statement Game Against Packers
1 year agoWe knew Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams was going to be eased in early on this year after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 of 2022, but we still expected more production through six weeks of the 2023 season. In five games -- he missed Week 5 with a quad injury -- Williams has 48 carries for 190 yards (4.0 yards per carry) and no touchdowns, adding 11 receptions for 51 yards. His best game fantasy-wise was in Week 1, when he posted 7.7 half-PPR points. Undrafted rookie Jaleel McLaughlin has made a case for a role in this backfield, but the good news is Williams remains Denver's top option when healthy. The 23-year-old has a prime opportunity to have his best game of the year against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, as they allow the fifth-most rushing yards per game (143.4) and the fifth-most half-PPR fantasy points per game to RBs so far this year.
