Frank Reich Handing Over Play-Calling Duties To Offensive Coordinator
1 year agoCarolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich informed players on Monday that he has decided to hand over play-calling duties moving forward to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, according to sources. The 37-year-old Brown is highly regarded in the league and will now call the shots for No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young after the team has started the 2023 season 0-6. Reich said the decision was completely his and wasn't pushed on him by owner David Tepper. Brown is in his first year as an offensive coordinator and he'll have this week's bye to start game-planning for a Week 8 matchup against the Houston Texans. The Panthers rank 23rd in the league in total offense and 22nd in scoring (18.7 points per game). Young's QBR of 33.1 ranks 32nd in the NFL.
