Mitch Garver Sitting Again In Game 2
1 year agoTexas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver finds himself riding pine yet again for Game 2 of the wild-card series on Wednesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Jonah Heim will handle backstop duties for the second straight game and will hit sixth in the batting order against Rays right-hander Zach Eflin, while Robbie Grossman serves as the designated hitter and bats third. Garver hit a strong .270/.370/.500 in his second year with the Rangers and added 19 home runs, 50 RBI and 45 runs scored in 344 plate appearances and 87 games played. Heim hit .258 (118-for-457) with 18 long balls, 95 RBI and 61 runs scored. Grossman didn't record a hit in his only career at-bat against Eflin, and Heim has never faced him.
