Matt McLain Out For Rest Of The Season
1 year agoCincinnati Reds rookie infielder Matt McLain (oblique) aggravated his oblique injury (a Grade 2 strain) during his minor-league rehab assignment over the weekend and will now miss the rest of the regular season. Even if the Reds somehow capture the final wild-card spot in the National League, which is highly unlikely at this point, McLain might not even be able to rejoin the Reds in the postseason. It's a tough ending to an excellent first season in the big leagues for the 24-year-old former UCLA star. In his first 365 major-league at-bats in 2023, McLain hit .290/.357/.507 with an .864 OPS, 16 home runs, 50 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 65 runs scored. After such a strong first year, McLain will be a highly coveted middle-infield option in fantasy drafts in 2024 for his power and speed.
