Rams Engaged In Trade Talks For Cam Akers
1 year agoThe Los Angeles Rams have had trade talks centered around running back Cam Akers, who was the team's starter in Week 1, according to sources. However, he was a healthy scratch in the Week 2 loss to the division-rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday after being ineffective in the season opener and after a difficult week of practice. Kyren Williams is now the starter in LA's backfield, and Akers' spot is up in the air. The 24-year-old former second-round pick by the Rams in 2020 out of Florida State had just 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in the season-opening win over the Seattle Seahawks. Akers demanded a trade last year and was in the doghouse before finishing strong with three straight 100-yard performances. It remains to be seen how the situation plays out in 2023, but for now his fantasy stock is obviously very low.
