Andrew Abbott To Start Again This Weekend
1 year agoCincinnati Reds rookie left-hander Andrew Abbott is only going to make three more starts this year as the Reds look to manage his workload, but one of them will come this weekend against the New York Mets, either on Friday or Saturday, according to manager David Bell. Abbott has thrown 153 innings in 2023, including 99 since he was called up from the minors for his big-league debut on June 5. It's 35 more innings than last year's professional career-high. He doesn't think his workload has been an issue, although he has struggled to get through four innings or less in three of his last four starts. The 24-year-old southpaw may be tiring a bit down the stretch, but a matchup against the Mets on the road will be enticing for fantasy managers this weekend.
