Alek Manoah's Season Likely Over
1 year agoIt's becoming more and more likely that Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah won't pitch again this year more than a month after he last pitched in the big leagues, according to sources familiar with the situation. No structural damage was found in his knee, back or right quadriceps after the 25-year-old got further medical testing done last week. However, a source said Manoah's lingering physical issues are leading him to prioritize rest and recovery in the hopes that his health will benefit in the short- and long-term. He hasn't pitched off a mound in a month and just two weeks are left in the Triple-A schedule. Manoah has been sent to the minors twice in 2023 and has a 5.87 ERA (6.02 FIP) and 1.74 WHIP in 19 starts for Toronto after he was a first-time All-Star in 2022.
