Brandon Belt Out Against A's
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman/designated hitter Brandon Belt (back) is not playing on Monday against the Oakland Athletics. It will be Belt's third straight missed game due to a back injury that continues to bother him of late. In his absence, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is serving as the designated hitter and is batting third, while rookie Spencer Horwitz is playing first base and hitting cleanup for Toronto against A's rookie right-hander Luis Medina. Fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Belt eventually lands on the injured list if he cannot return soon. The 35-year-old is having a decent first year in Toronto and he's coming off a strong month of August in which he hit .284 (21-for-74) with seven home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI and 17 runs scored in 21 games (20 starts).
