Martin Truex Jr. Has Nothing To Say After Awful Night At Darlington
1 year agoMartin Truex Jr. started the playoffs as the favorite to win the Championship at most sportsbooks, but the No. 19 Toyota didn't look like a true contender at Darlington Raceway on Sunday night. Truex qualified way back in 31st place for this year's Southern 500 but never really had a lot of speed in the car once the race got started, which was quite the surprise, considering Truex is a two-time winner at the track. When interviewed after the race, the crew chief of the No. 19 team, James Small, stated, "We got in the wall yesterday, and we thought we had it all right. Maybe we didn't. Maybe that's where we missed it." Truex had nothing to say after the race, declining to comment to the media on the night, a clear sign of frustration. Truex still has a 25-point cushion over the cut line to make the next round of the playoffs with two races remaining before the chop.
