No Timeline For Matt McLain's Return
1 year agoCincinnati Reds rookie infielder Matt McLain (oblique) landed on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a right-oblique strain, and the Reds don't have a timeline for his return. McLain underwent an MRI exam, and the Reds are still determining whether it's a Grade 1 of 2 strain. The Reds are hoping it's on the mild side and that McLain can play again in 2023. The 24-year-old had taken over as the everyday second baseman of late with Jonathan India still injured. The rookie infielder has been the team's most valuable player in terms of both bWAR (3.6) and fWAR (3.3). McLain has also been one of the top rookies in baseball in 2023, as his .864 OPS ranked second-best among all rookies with at least 400 plate appearances through Sunday.
